While I personally prefer to use Percentage of Body Fat as the main determinant for estimating ideal body weight, this tool is sufficient for estimating your current status and as a general guide for determining the amount of weight to remove. This tool can also assist you in determining the number of weeks which it may take to successfully remove that weight.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the World Health Organization established adult weight guidelines based on body mass index (BMI). A BMI of 19-25 is considered a healthy range. A BMI of 26-30 is considered moderately overweigh. A BMI of 31-35 indicates obesity, and a BMI of 36-40 indicates severe obesity. An individual with a BMI of more than 40 is considered morbidly obese.
